SPOTTED: Summer Transition

As the months fly by summer is finally coming to an end. When I recently got settled into my dorm I had some friends come over and check it out.

Ryan, who is an art student at SAIC, is a super stylish friend of mine who works at Akira Footwear. His outfit just screams I WANT SUMMER TO END NOW and I totally agree with him. I'm all about layering, sweaters, cardigans, denim, and wools. I love to drape fabric all over my body, which during the summer I can't.
Although everyone in the world owns a pair of Rayban Wayfarers, Ryan pulls them off perfectly. I'm loving his very laid back style, yet it looks like he put effort & thought into his outfit.

Things are constantly changing...

I finally moved into my dorm at UIC and I'm loving it. It's funny how my roommate & I bumped heads the first day, but it seems like everything is great now. I feel like it still hasn't clicked that I am currently living in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Food was always one of my biggest worries when deciding to move into a dorm or not. I have heard stories about students not eating because the food was horrendous. Luckily I live in the newest building on campus which also has the best cafeteria. Although the food doesn't compare to my mother's home cooking, it's actually pretty decent.
Over the time I decided that it was time for some changes in my life. One of the biggest changes that recently occurred is deciding to sign up for the Army ROTC. I know what you guys are saying, LUIS CAN'T HANDLE IT! Well, you're in for a treat because I can handle it.
I'm ready to take on the challenges of college and the Army ROTC program. Although I am extremely nervous and scared, I know I can do it.

SPOTTED: Pajama Chic

I was headed to grab some Chai tea from Argo Tea, where I came upon this gorgeous girl. I kept asking myself, Should I photograph her? Will she allow me to? If not, what should I do?

It seems like I always make such a huge deal when it really doesn't need to be. I finally grew the balls to ask her if she wanted to be photographed, and she said NO. kidding.

Can anyone say comfort chic?
I asked her if she was a local to Chicago and she said that she was currently looking for apartments. She laughed when I took her picture because she mentioned how these were her pajamas and how she put no thought to her outfit. I told her that it's usually those outfits who make it on the blogs.
I died when I saw her Jeffrey Campbell studded leopard sandals, I WANT THEM NOW

I was invited to attend the Chicago Fashion Incubator open house that was hosted at the Macys on State street. If you guys haven't heard about the Chicago Fashion Incubator, check out my previous post right HERE.

Get Together with Bessie & Amy

When I received a lovely email from Bessie who is the girl behind Bravoe Runway, I fell in love with her right away. In the email that she wrote to me, she mentioned how she is inspired by the content on my blog and how she reads my blog often.

She definitely made my day when I received that email.

So, I emailed her back and asked her out to lunch. She quickly responded with a YES and before you know it we were meeting in front of the Nordstrom's mall.
We decided to grab some pita sandwiches at the Mezza, which is located in the Nordstrom's mall. It was my first time trying a pita and BOY WAS IT DELICIOUS.
NOM NOM NOM.
I want her Louis Vuitton bag SO BADLY.
DOUBLE TIME x2.

Sadly Bessie had to head back to work and I was off to meet up with my lover & friend, Amy Creyer
I decided to meet Amy at Argo Tea on Rush aka our usual hangout spot. Although I've passed up Argo Tea & have been there many of times, it seems like I still can't find my way around the city without help from my iPhone.

We decided to head to All Saints after sipping on some tea and look around for some chic outfits. Amy tried on these adorable leather pants that I wanted to steal from her.

After leaving All Saints, we headed to Nordstrom to check out some Alexander Wang bags. I cried when I saw my gorgeous Rocco bag just sitting on the shelf waiting to be bought. Too bad I didn't have $875 just lying around.
Amy kept on drooling over the Alexander Wang zip-up bag that was perfect for her. It wasn't too big, not too small to fit her camera, and it was definitely edgey-chic. After a few hours of window shopping, it was time to part ways. :(

Here is a picture that Amy took of me.

I'm obsessed.

I'm On A Boat, Well Not Really..

A couple of weeks ago Akira celebrated their 9th anniversary by throwing huge parties at all of their
Bucktown locations. I was lucky enough to be a part of the magic (I know cliche, but oh well)  and had to dress up as a lifeguard. You may ask why a lifeguard? In all honesty I have no clue and just went on with it..
(h&m white singlet, h&m hawaiian trunks, levis cutoffs, old navy flip flops, rayban wayfarers)

Once I arrived to work I found out that each store was supposed to have a different theme, luckily the footwear store had "going to the beach." Simple enough?
Isn't my store so pretty?
Love them so much.
Now for the other stores..
The women's store theme was "Cowboy Rodeo" which I thought was adorable, but obviously not as cute as "going to the beach." I mean wearing less is always better, right? Sex sells, DUH.
RUSH IT UP at the Men's store.
Free booze, strippers, and hot clothes.. How can a guy go wrong

Although I was working, I still had an amazing time at the party. It was great to see such an awesome company celebrate their success in the Chicagoland area. I am a huge supporter of local boutiques, especially when they are super trendy, cute, and affordable. Now I wanted to leave you guys with these two pictures that I literally can't stop laughing at.. I know you'll love them.

Prada to the Max

For the past two seasons I have been dying over Prada's ad campaigns. Their super sexy, fun, and have some sort of a delicate feeling to them. The marketing people at Prada sure know how to stir up great creations because this definitely makes me want to own every single piece from the collection.
Here's the A/W '11 Video by Steven Meisel..

Oh Miuccia, why do you have to be so amazing?
Think minimal with color
Tobey McQuire looking stunning, as usual..
LUXE.
Tres Chic.
Goggle sunglasses? I need these now.

Biker Chick or NOT

As the month of August approaches, the days start to count down till I have school again. I can say that this summer has been one of the busiest summers that I've ever experienced in my lifetime. I love it.

I am the kind of a person who would rather be running around like a lunatic than sitting around on the couch watching TV, like I'm doing now... Any ways I met another friend that I wanted to introduce to you guys.
As I was walking into Akira, I noticed that one of the stylists that I haven't met gave me the dirtiest looks. I glanced at her and said, HI, MY NAME IS LUIS AND YOURS......... She responded back, and for some odd reason I felt a special connection, like we've met in another life or something. I know you guys probably have heard that a million times, but it was a weird vibe. You know when you enter in Barneys NY and see that Proenza Schouler PS1 bag just sitting on the counter with your name on it. That's how I felt with Falin, yet it was with an actual human being.

My first impressions of Falin were: she's trying to hard to be a tough ass, seems rude, stuck up, too much into herself, and has to be obsessed with the ruggit look. Although I was right about one of my impressions, everything else was totally wrong. She is probably one of the kindest girls I have ever met. I mean, look at her?
I'm obsessed with her earrings.
I need these combat boots NOW, well want.
Excess jewelry x Wrist Candy x Studded Purse = Perfection.

YOUR TRUELY.
(h&m denim shirt, h&m black jeans, hudson oxfords, marc by marc jacobs weekend bag)
 Kick it, LOUDER.
I'll leave it up to you guys to guess what I was trying to do in this picture. Let your imagination free and remember to never judge a book by its cover.
