Bill Cunningham Cocktail Party

When I found out that Nikia from ChiTown Fashionista and Emma from Tres Awesome were hosting a cocktail party honoring the premiere of the Bill Cunningham documentary, I had to attend. The cocktail party was located at Tula, which is a gorgeous boutique that offers a variety of designer brands. This was the perfect location for the premiere party because it was right across from the Music Box Theatre where the Bill Cunningham documentary is being shown! Although I haven't seen the movie yet, I've heard that it is a must for any fashion lover.
When entering into the boutique, I was prompted with Gordana Rajic, who is the designer for Goca Designs (which is her own label). She looked stunning with her round framed sunglasses, bold red lipstick, and gorgeous blazer & shirt. When she approached me, I told her right away that I adored her color block outfit and that it was perfection!
Gordana Rajic
As I was looking around for Nikia, I looked right in front of me and there she was! She looked adorable (as always) in her Zara striped shirt and Calvin Klein skirt - PERFECT for spring! Can anyone say color?
Nikia from ChiTown Fashionista
The crowd included fellow bloggers, fashionistas, family, and supporters of Bill Cunningham. It was a great mixture and overall wonderful crowd!

My Journey of Washington DC - Day 3 & 4

On Day 3 of my DC trip, we were headed to the Washington Monument for the opening ceremony of Business Professionals of America (a club & the reason why I was in DC). Of course there were tons of tourists snapping pictures left and right of the monument. If you haven't been to the Washington Monument then I would definitely recommend taking a trip out to DC to see this gorgeous monument.
Washington Monument
Our chaperone said that the in order to attend the opening ceremony we had to wear khaki pants and a BPA graphic t-shirt that they gave us. I decided to give the outfit a little twist by incorporating my Gap high-waisted straight leg khakis and the t-Shirt tucked into my pants.
RUN RUN RUN!
My group decided to walk around the area and check out the Vietnam Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial - but of course once we headed out it was time to head back. So we decided to run back, but that wasn't such a great idea..

We were then headed back to the hotel to compete in our competitions, which called for a different outfit.
Day #4 Look
OH HI
Although I could go on and on about my day, I'm not. I definitely don't want to bore you and stick to the FASHION of the trip.

Memorial Day Comfort Look

Memorial Day weekend is finally here which means a bunch of sales, BBQing (if Chicago weather gets better), and spending time with the family. I decided to do an outfit that not only is very trendy, but that is also very comfortable to wear. I know girls always complain about how their feet are killing them from wearing 6 inch platforms, so it's time to change it up.  In this outfit I tried to incorporate red, white, and blue without making it too tacky or like your trying to hard. Here it is..

Memoridal Day Comfort
1. ASOS POLLY Leather Court Shoes (ASOS)
2. Layered Pearlescent Necklace (Forever 21)
3. Turquoise Zip Back Shell Top (TopShop)
4. Ankle-Cropped Trousers (Zara)
5. Steve Madden Koool Flats (Lori's Shoes)

What I love about this outfit is the option to choose between platform heels or flats! Also, I love the TopShop soft flowy turquoise top & the Zara tight cropped red pants - perfect contrast. If your a mother or a girl that is on the go on Memorial Day weekend, then I would highly recommend choosing the flats over the stilletos. Sometimes its nice to change things up.

TTYN High School

As Paris Hilton would say, "TTYN, Talk to you never." I can't believe that I'm officially done with another chapter in my life, high school. Oh what an experience I have had both positive and negative.
Jen & I
It's kind of crazy how fast 4 years can go by so fast. My senior year was probably one of the worst best years that I experienced in high school. Not only did it make me more mature, but I also realized who were my true friends that would last outside of high school.
Ms. Viverito & I / Sam & I
The two people above are people who changed my life dramatically. Ms. Viverito who was my AP English teacher wasn't like most teachers. As much as I complained about the amount of work we received, I learned the most from her about life, college, and English (of course!). Sam who I met during a party that I attended on Halloween, was just a wonderful person. Every time I needed advice or a person just to talk to, she was there. I wish her luck on her adventure to Bradley and I know she'll become an amazing nurse someday!
Good Bye VJA
As much as I'm going to miss it, I think its ready to say TTYN High School.

Chic Bohemian Look

Boho Chic
1. Ginger Waterfall Midi Skirt (TopShop
2. Floral Embroidery Tunic (Forever 21
3. Siren Tail Wrap Around Bracelet (n0ir Jewelry
4. Nautique Bracelet Pack (ASOS
5. Christian Louboutin Super Dombasle Wedge Sandal (Barneys NY)

I'm totally falling in love with the Bohemian look for the summer. When I think of Bohemian, I think of long flowy skirts, turquoise jewelry, platform wedges, and light tunics. I decided to do a look that mixed both luxury and lower-end pieces. The TopShop Ginger Waterfall Midi Skirt compliments any body shape because of the flowy components of the skirt. You can simply pair the skirt with a Floral Tunic (like I did) or a cropped silk shirt. Of course the ultimate pair of wedges are from Christian Louboutin (Shoe GENIUS!). Very minimal, yet super chic! To complete this outfit, I paired this look with the new Pirates of the Caribbean x n0ir Jewelry Collaboration - Siren Tail Wrap around and some turquoise friendship bracelets (very trendy). I love the the brushed metal look of the bracelet and the contrast of the turquoise bracelets together.

SPOTTED: Nancy Rocking Spikes

Nancy Spotted
A couple weeks ago as I was headed to the Vintage Heaven sale I spotted Nancy leaving a local cafe in the Wicker Park area. Once I saw Nancy, I couldn't help myself from taking a picture of her outfit. I was totally obsessed with her spiked oxfords and studded denim jacket. I asked her where she got her shoes from and she said that they are suppose to be faux Christian Louboutins which were from Hong Kong. I told her I was envious and wanted a black pair right away!
Nacy Spotted
So adorable! Now why can't H&M or Zara sell something similar to this for men and women?

Zara Man - May 2011 Lookbook

Zara Man - May 2011
Photos: Zara

I was browsing the Zara website today and noticed that they posted the May 2011 Lookbooks up! I am loving the contrasts between whites and color. I also noticed that there is a lot of linen pants, linen blazers, and light shirts - PERFECT for Spring/Summer.. When Chicago's weather decides to stay at a decent temperature. The stylists at Zara really do know how to create a outfit that is trendy, yet very wearable for everyone. What do you think of the collection?

My Journey of Washington DC - Day #2

On my second day in Washington DC, we decided to head out early from the Omni Shoreham (which is the beautiful hotel that we stayed at) to Starbucks for some coffee. Thankfully I looked up the weather the day before because as we were walking towards Starbucks it started to pour - THANK YOU iPHONE.
Beautiful Rain & Starbucks Run
Striped Sweater (H&M), Army Jacket (Guess), Levi's Dark Denim Skinnies (Urban Outfitters),
Engineer Boots (Aldo), and Messenger Bag (Target).

After my nice warm Venti Skinny Cimanon Dolce Latte then we headed  to the National Zoo, which happened to be less than a mile a way (thank god!). Although I'm not much a zoo person, because of the smell & seeing gorgeous animals caged up (how about humans caged up?) - but I thought it would be pretty terrible cool to go to THE NATIONAL ZOO. The skies started to clear up and it the temperature started to rise!
Zoo Collage

If your ever in DC I would definitely recommend going to the National Zoo, because first of all it's free, beautiful landscaping, and stinky animals gorgeous animals. After circling the zoo we decided to head back to the hotel to freshen up, because my legs were on fire. Next on our agenda was to attend the Opening Ceremony that was being held at the Washington Monument - which will be posted in my next trip post!

Event Alert: Model Assemblages Renovar Fall 2011

I received an invitation to attend the Model Assemblages Fall 2011 Collection Show on Saturday, May 21, 2011. The show will be hosted at the Heaven Gallery, where the the monthly Vintage Heaven sale is held (totally obsessed!). Here's a little bit of information about the show..
Model Assemblages Fall 2011 Invitation
Model Assemblages a Retrospective of work by American Sculptor Louise Nevelson: a New York artist whose work spans from the 1940's till her death in the 1980's. Her abstract expressionist "walls" “crates” or "assemblages" were made of painted recycled wood.
She was one of the first artist to transform space into installation Art.
Much of her work was done in black but she also made a white, gold and Lucite series.

The thing that caught my eye was that all of the clothes, large neck pieces, and hats are all made from recycled materials. I'm all about being green and I'm extremely excited to see what the show comes out to be.

The the doors open at 7:30 PM and the show begins promptly at 8:30 PM. Tickets are only $15 and can be bought HERE. Hope to see you there!

Color is Everything

Color makes the world a better place. It gives off a wonderful sensation of pride, confidence, and individuality. Color is everything.
photo
I love that this season is all about color because people can express themselves through vibrant colors and patterns. Fashion is a beauty that can be appreciated without saying a word. That is why even the shyest person can be the most stylish.

Horacio Nieto presents Mining the Dynasty

Loft on Lake
Amazing Chicago designer, Horacio Nieto presented "Mining the Dynasty" showcasing his F/W 2011 collection. Horacio Nieto is known for his creative designs and vibrant colors. Also, his pieces are known to be affordable and made with quality, which is always a plus! The show was held at Loft on Lake which is one of my favorite venues in Chicago! I was in love with what Horacio Nieto's did to the venue by incorporating beautiful lanterns and red lighting to create a "Dynasty" atmosphere.

As the night went on some of my fellow friends started to arrive. Of course I love time to socialize! I noticed that a lot of the people attending the event were wearing some piece that had color in it whether it was a dress, shirt, necklace, or purse. Love it.

The show begun and the models from Agency Galatea started to walk down the beautiful runway. I was stunned by the beautiful palette of colors that Horacio had chosen for this collection.

I had a great time at the show and am looking forward to seeing some of these pieces on the sidewalks of Chicago! Horacio Nieto is definitely a designer to watch out for. Now I can't wait to attend his "Capturing Frida" show on September 30th - although that is a while! If your interested in some of his pieces, you can contact him directly through his website at Horacio Nieto.

Bright Lights, Big City - Prom Night

On April 29th, 2011 I decided to go to my prom when my friend Kate Hastings asked if I wanted to be her date to the dance. I told her of course and it was off to choose a dress for her. I decided to go with something bright & form fitting on the top because it would fit her figure the best. We went to Kimberly Bond and the first dress she tried was the one. She said NO I DO NOT WANT TO TRY ANY OTHER ON and from there it was history.

The days went on and prom was finally here. I kept asking myself is it really worth it to stress out so much for just 1 night? As the night was approaching, I decided that I would just let everything go and free my mind.
Kate Hastings, Kris Tupas, Kyle & Krista
My prom was held at the Shedd Aquarium and it was crazy to see the Shedd completely empty. We were so fortunate to have my prom there because the scenery was beautiful and perfect for pictures! As the night went on, the music was bumping and people were headed on the dance floor. Then it was finally over.. I said to myself, "Wow, I can't believe that was my senior prom?"I felt like it was just another homecoming dance, but it wasn't.. Overall, I had a great time and it was awesome to see some of my friends & fellow classmates in beautiful dresses and tuxedos..

It was just a perfect night and couldn't ask for anything better! Prom is just one high school event you can't miss because it's a once in a lifetime chance to see all of your fellow classmates dressed up in their attire. Now graduation day is coming right along! So excited, yet so scared.

What I Wore to the Airport

When going to the airport everyone loves to be comfortable especially when going on a 2+ hour flight. Since I am currently in Washington DC for a convention, I decided to dress in a comfortable yet chic outfit.
#13Marc by Marc Jacobs Denim Longjohns F/W 2010
Mossimo Messenger Bag
Marc by Marc Jacobs Laptop Case
H&M Teal Sweater (HM), Gap VNeck Tee (Gap), Marc by Marc Jacobs Denim Longjohns (Marc Jacobs), UGG Boots (Walking Company), Marc by Marc Jacobs Laptop Case (Marc Jacobs), Mossimo Messenger Bag (Target).

I picked to wear my teal sweater from H&M because it's extremely comfortable and I had to throw in some color into the outfit! It seems that everyone eyes my pants because they are not the usual jeans or sweatpants that a guy wears. I'm obsessed with them because of their comfort and the uniqueness of the piece. Can't wait to keep you guys up to date on my trip in Washington DC! xo

What I Wore to Prom

My Prom was held at the Shedd Aquarium on Friday - March 29, 2011 and I had a wonderful time. It was great to see all of the people who normally don't dress up at school, dress up! There were a few dresses that stood out to me, but I'll leave that for the next post. Now, this is what I wore to Prom..
Prom #1
Prom #2
Prom #3
Tuxedo (Black Tie Rental), Polo Ralph Lauren BowTie (Saks), Messenger Bag (Target) Purple Socks (American Apparel)

I love how the purple in the socks and bowtie stick out to add some color to the black tuxedo. Color is IN for Spring! So guys, adding color socks to match your tie or bowtie is always a must! I can't wait to post up all the gorgeous I took at the dance. Prom is a once in a life time chance, and I had a great time.
