Fashion Against Aids 2011 & H&M x Swedish Hasbeens

Fashion Against Aids
A few days ago, H&M just released their 4th Fashion Against Aids Collection. This is a fun collection that contains pieces that range from baggy t-shirts to jumpsuits. My favorite piece from the entire collection would have be the white leather vest, because it's versatile look. Another wonderful part of this collection is that a lot of the pieces are unisex and 25% of the proceeds go to HIV/Aids foundations. The Fashion Against Aids Collection is only available at select stores - Michigan Avenue is the only store in Illinois to have it.

Fashion Against Aids

In addition to the release of the Fashion Against Aids Collection, H&M also recently released their collaboration with Swedish Hasbeens. I am obsessed with them, because you can either dress them up or down depending on your outfit. Plus for $69.95 or $59.95, you really can't beat it. They come in a variety of colors and styles.

Love the display and I was told that they just got them in 2 days ago. Make sure you head out soon to the H&M on Michigan Avenue to view these wonderful collections in person and to pick up some of these piece before they sellout!

Purity Forever - Light Colors

If you recently been to H&M they just released their Conscious collection about a week ago. The Conscious collection is all about organic cottons, soft colors, and recycle fabrics. Once I saw this collection I was inspired to create a look that only uses only a soft palette of colors besides the jewelry. I actually incorporated one of the pieces that is included in the Conscious collection (Organic Cotton Shorts!)
Purity Forever
 1. Marc by Marc Jacobs Silk Organza Blouse (Netaporter) 2. Conscious Collection Shorts (H&M
3. Rhinestone Cord Tie Me Up (TopShop) 4. Messeca Nude Wedges (Nasty Gal)

I'm obsessed with the Marc by Marc Jacobs silk blouse because it has minimal patterns yet it catches the eyes. In addition, I always love to throw in some pop of color into any outfit, so the TopShop bracelet and the Messeca nude wedges with higlights of yellow were a must! Love it.

Prada Crazy - Spring/Summer 2011

It seems like everyone is obsessed with Prada this season because many of the high end celebs, bloggers, and of course industry people are wearing it. I think Prada hit it right on with the stripes and the color. If you want to stand out, then you definitely need to pick up a few pieces from Prada this season. My favorite piece from this season would have to be the Prada Brogues. Even if I could afford a pair, it is said that there is a huge wait list for them. I can keep dreaming, right?
Prada Crazy

Prada's Spring/Summer 2011 campaign video is not only eye catching but catchy and definitely makes me want to buy every piece from the collection (of course that's what they want you to do).

Props to Prada and hopefully will be able to acquire some of these pieces.

Luis

Chic Easter Look

Budget Easter Dress
1.  Floral Patterned Dress - $49.99 (H&M), 2. Pink Pearl Earrings - $85 (Blue Nile), 3. Sateen Heels - $24.80 (Forever 21),
4. Pearl Bracelet - $2.80 (Forever 21), 5. Leather Wallet - $55 (TopShop)

I adore the H&M Effortless Elegance collection that was released last month, which included this patterned floral dress. What I love most about this dress is the corset top (black waistband) & flowy bottom, which makes you look skinnier towards the top! It's the perfect dress for any spring occasion, especially those who celebrate Easter! Since the dress has tons of florals, I thought it would be perfect to calm down the outfit with black heels & a black clutch and pair the dress with pink pearls - so chic! Also, the wonders about this look is that it won't cost you a fortune!

Trend for Spring/Summer - Furla Candy Bag

Furla Bag
Source: Swa-Rai

A bag can either make or break an outfit and that's why I believe it's important for women & men to find something to fits their personality, yet is versatile. I first saw this bag on Jenna (ChiCityFashion) when we saw each other at the CS Chic Boutique. It's the Furla Candy Bag and it's to die for.

As you guys know - I'm obsessed with colors. The Candy Bag is perfect for making a statement without over doing it because of the various colors that they have. Also, I love how durable the bag is because it is made out of high quality rubber.

If you're trying to incorporate the color block trend in your wardrobe this is a MUST! Wear a chic black dress and add the bag to include a pop of color & attitude to your outfit.

The thing that draws me the most towards this bag is that it isn't a wallet buster. The retail price for the bag is $195 and can be bought at Furla.com

Miriam Cecilia Fall/Winter 2011 Collection Show

Miriam Cecilia F/W 2011
I jumped up and down when I received an email to attend the Miriam Cecilia F/W 2011 Collection Show on April 15, 2011. I am a huge fan of Miriam Cecilia because of her girly yet elegant designs that makes girls feel like they're worth a million dollars when wearing one of her pieces. The collection show took place in the Chicago Fashion Incubator event room which is located at the 900 North Michigan Shops on level 5.
Miriam Cecilia & I
Once entering into the event room I was quickly prompted by Miriam Cecilia (who is a doll) and welcomed us to her show. I could not stop shaking for the reason that I knew that Miriam's collection will not disappoint. Of course I was prompted by a couple of friends & bloggers and it was then time to mingle with everyone.
Socializing at Miriam Cecilia

The CFI event room was full and it was time for the show to begin. The show had two pedestals where the models would go from one pedestal to the next one, which I thought was an awesome concept compared to the average runway pathway. Here are some of my favorite looks..

IADT Schaumburg Imagine 2011 Fashion Show

I was so excited when I received an invitation to IADT Imagine 2011 Fashion Show because I'm all about upcoming designers (especially students). The fashion show took place on April 10, 2011 which was hosted at the beautiful Loft on Lake.

Upon arriving to the show, Benjamin and I had brunch at West Egg which is an adorable brunch restaurant with great food for a reasonable price. We were then off to the show and noticed that the weather was gorgeous. As we entered into the venue we noticed that it was a full house but thankfully we were lucky enough to have reserved front row seats at the show.

Marco Foster (Chicago Models), Horacio Nieto (Designer), & Benjamin (Benjamin Cottrell Designs)

It was then time for socializing! I spotted Nikia (ChiTownFashionista), Horacio Nieto (Designer), and Cha'rron (CChicChicago). They were so adorable and I just had to give them a huge hug!

 Nikia (ChiTown Fashionista)                                                     Cha'rron (CChicChicago)

The show started with wonderful designer, Borris Powell and the beautiful Lara Miller hosting the show. They were very cheery and pretty much gave information about what IADT Imagine Show is all about. Of course they both looked stunning and just couldn't keep my eye off Lara Miller's skirt. SO OBSESSED WITH PATTERNS!

As Borris Powell and Lara Miller left the stage the room got silent and a few seconds later the room was bumping with music & the runway was filled with Ford Models.

Jennifer Mathis                                            Ashley Martinez

I died a little bit when I saw the first collection go by, because I kept asking myself - "Did a student really design this?" I was so impressed on the concepts behind each piece, which was put together wonderfully.

Joy Masaya                                                   Ashley Martinez

Rhonda Love                                                            Jennifer Mathis

Not only was the first collection outstanding, but pretty much the entire show was organized perfectly & the designs were outstanding. Check out all the every look from the show..

Overall, my mouth was open the entire time. I just couldn't believe how much talent was presented in front of me. These students definitely have a HUGE future in front of them!

Zamrie Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Show

On April 6, 2011 Kyler Powell (Red Dress Party) and I were invited to attend the Zamrie Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Show that was hosted at the 900 North Michigan shops. Before attending the show we stopped at the Grand Luxe Cafe for Dinner and boy was it great. The portions were huge and the menu had over 100 items that were reasonably priced. If you want a great sit-down restaurant downtown that isn't going to break the bank, I would definitely recommend the Grand Luxe Cafe.

As we were headed to the show we bumped into Ryan Beshel (Agency Galateawho was also headed to the Zamrie show. Ryan is literally everywhere, but I just can't get enough of him. The doors of the venue opened at 8:00 PM for some socializing.

The show promptly started and 8:30 and the room was silent. The collection contained a bunch of printed blouses and dresses. What I loved about the collection was the versatile between each garment. Someone could take the same blouse and pair it with skinny jeans for a casual look or flare dress pants for a professional/work setting.

The event was overall a huge success for Zamrie and I see a bright future for the brand. To purchase the S/S 2011 Pieces you can either head over to the Chicago Fashion Incubator shop located at the 900 North Michigan Shops on Level 5 or check out their website at Zamrie.

Andy Warhol x Incase Collaboration

Simplicity with a Twist

I'm a huge fan of Incase because of how reliable it is to have on your iPhone, iPad, or Laptop. Not only are the cases well made, but also look super chic. I died when I saw that Incase was teaming with Andy Warhol to release a limited edition collection showcasing some of Andy Warhol's masterpieces.

There are 5 designs that are included in the collection. I'm totally obsessed with the banana & the money signs designs because it screams simplicity with edge.

The collection not only includes iPhone cases but also 13' & 15' Protective Sleeve, Shoulder Bag, & iPad sleeve.  The cases are now available online for pre-order at Incase and I would recommend purchasing yours soon, because this collection will definitely sell out.

Luxury vs. Budget Look

I'm a huge fan of supporting my favorite designers, but most of the time I can't afford their stuff. There is where I try to find similar things to satisfy myself. A Friend and I were talking about MrPorter & NetAPorter on how both of these websites are "dream" shopping sites or as I would call it, window shopping sites. I pretty much just eye everything that MrPorter has to offer because of the wide variety of designers & clothes that they have. All the items from the luxurious look is from MrPorter.

1. Jil Sander Striped Knitted Sweater ($695). 2. Jil Sander Poplin Shorts ($445). 3. B Store Leather Brogues ($335). 4. Proenza Schouler Medium PS1 ($1595). 5. Pantherella Ribbed Cotton Socks ($30).

VS

1. Generic Frame Stripe Crewneck $38 (Urban Outfitters). 2. QuikSilver Scout Shorts $49.50 (QuikSilver) 3. Aldo Fondriest Shoes $110 (Aldo). 4. Mossimo Messenger Bag $34.99 (Target). 5. Falke Socks $13.50 (Figleaves).

Very similar items, yet totally different prices.

You don't always have to shell out a fortune to look trendy & fabulous, especially since fast fashion companies such as H&M, Zara, and Forever 21 are always staying up to date with the latest trends.

XO,
Luis

CS Chic Boutique & Elda De La Rosa Couture Fashion Show

At the Elda Couture Show: Benjamin Cottrell (Benjamin Cottrell Designs), Me (ChiCityTrends),
Marc Foster (Chicago Models), and Ryan Kliner.

It's crazy how busy Thursday nights are in the city, Thursday seems to be the new Friday. I was invited to attend the CS Chic Boutique & Elda De La Rosa Spring/Summer 2011 Couture Show. My fellow friend Benjamin Cottrell from Benjamin Cottrell Designs decided to appear at both events.

We first started off our journey at the CS Chic Boutique which was held at the beautiful Ivy Room. The CS Chic Boutique was an event to get a group of Chicago consignment stores & boutiques together and have a huge shopping event. The outcome of the event was huge, because CS hosts eDrop-Off, Akira, Veruca Salt, Handle With Care, Panache, Ladysmith Jewelry, Fashion House and Beadniks all under one roof. It was shopping overload for me, because I wasn't sure where to start!

After some major shopping we decided to take a cab to Elda De La Rosa Couture Show which was held at the Alberton Chicago Hotel. It was a beautiful venue with some of the most elite Chicagoans to mingle with. As usual, everyone was dress to impress with men in suits and women wearing the gorgeous gowns.

My Gorgeous Friend Carmen from Chicago Magazine

The show started promptly at 8:00 PM and I was ready to jump out of my seat! The music started and the room was silence, Ben and I were dancing in our seats. The collection was gorgeous with tons of color (huge for spring), drapery, flowy, and belted waists. As I was taking pictures I noticed that some of the pictures begun to come out blurry but I thought it looked beautiful. I feel as if it gave the clothes and the picture itself a different perspective. Here is my favorite dress & picture from Elda's S/S 2011 Collection.
